This is part three of a series of posts that explains how to built a blog, using Joomla! and K2.

Setting up Disqus for comments

We’re going to use Disqus to manage the comments on your blog.  It’s a popular option, because it allows people to comment using their Facebook or Twitter account, amongst others.

Before we start on the Joomla! Part, head over to Disqus (http://www.disqus.com).  Follow the instructions to setup Disqus for your new domain.

Since your domain needs to be live, you’ll have to wait with this part until your blog is actually online, of course.

Once you’ve setup Disqus for your site, go back to Joomla.

The plug-in is now enabled, and people will now be able to publish comments on your articles.  But aren’t we forgetting something?  That’s right, your articles still aren’t visible on the front page.

Link your articles to the front page

Now you’re almost done, but your articles – had you written any – don’t show up on the front page.  So, we’re going to create a menu item.

One thing I like about  a Wordpress blog, is the simple setup by default.  When you visit the front page, the articles are there.  Inviting you to read them.

We’re going to achieve the same by creating the “home” menu item.  Give this menu item an appropriate name, for example “Home”.  Don’t forget to publish it

Note: If you choose to select more than one category here, you’ll have to configure the settings.  Feel free to experiment.

When you visit your home page, you’ll now see… well, nothing.   You’ve still got to write your first post.  But that can wait.  We’re going to finish this guide by adding four nice modules which every blogger needs.
